Seeking a Sheet Metal Shop Supervisor for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Metuchen, NJ.

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k! 

Pay is between $30 - $40 per hour (based on experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee daily shop operations to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to guide fabrication.
  • Monitor production quality to ensure fabricated components meet company and industry standards.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment, tools, and materials to optimize productivity and reduce waste.
  • Maintain inventory levels and coordinate material orders with procurement teams.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of sheet metal fabricators, welders, and apprentices.
  • Assign tasks, provide training, and enforce company policies and safety procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve team efficiency and skill development.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork within the shop.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure employees wear proper PPE and follow safety protocols at all times.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors to ensure accurate production and timely delivery of components.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and subcontractors regarding shop capabilities, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Address and resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during fabrication.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and finishing. Proficiency in reading blueprints and CAD drawings.
  • Proven ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.
