Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation & Controls for an immediate start!
Pay: $35–$45/hour

Duration: Temp to Hire
Shift: Office Hours (Target 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, flexible) | 40+ hours weekly | Weekends as needed
Location: Aurora, IL
Job Description:
This role is responsible for performing preventive and reactive maintenance to support manufacturing operations. The technician will focus on executing PM schedules, troubleshooting and repairing control systems, and maintaining production efficiency. This position requires strong expertise in instrumentation, controls, and automation systems, along with the ability to support multiple shifts and respond to on-call maintenance needs.
Responsibilities:
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and repair control/monitoring equipment
- Troubleshoot complex controls systems across multiple production lines
- Support maintenance teams on all shifts with advanced technical issues
- Work with PLC logic, VFDs, servos, and controls networking systems
- Assist with programming updates and continuous improvement efforts
- Help develop and implement electrical PM programs
- Maintain spare parts inventory for controls-related components
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, including LOTO and arc flash procedures
- Mentor and train technicians and new hires
- Communicate effectively across teams and shifts
Additional Requirements:
- Must bring electrical tools and multimeter
- Strong troubleshooting and automation experience required
- Willingness to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends and on-call duties
- Leadership mindset with strong safety focus
- Interest in growth into engineering roles preferred
- Food industry experience is a plus but not required
