Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a Logistics & Transportation Operations Specialist to support and grow trucking and hauling operations in the Fletcher and Asheville, NC region. This role is ideal for a logistics professional with strong knowledge of the local warehouse and freight market who can help generate hauling opportunities while overseeing day-to-day transportation operations.
This position combines dispatching, load tracking, compliance support, equipment scheduling, and business development to ensure efficient operations and consistent revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Hauling Development
Build relationships with local warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturers, and freight brokers in the Fletcher/Asheville market.
Identify and secure new hauling opportunities to maximize trucking asset utilization.
Monitor regional freight demand and seasonal shipping trends.
Dispatch & Transportation Coordination
Dispatch drivers daily and ensure efficient routing and load assignments.
Track loads in real time and communicate updates with customers and internal teams.
Manage pickup, delivery, and backhaul scheduling.
Administrative & Compliance Support
Assist with FUTA tracking and payroll-related compliance tasks.
Maintain records of loads, mileage, fuel usage, and driver hours.
Support DOT compliance, safety documentation, and internal reporting.
Prepare weekly and monthly logistics performance reports.
Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
Schedule and track maintenance for trucks, trailers, and equipment.
Maintain logs for inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Coordinate with vendors for service and repairs.
Operational Organization
Maintain dispatch boards, driver schedules, and load calendars.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and documentation.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in logistics, dispatch, trucking, warehouse operations, or transportation coordination.
Strong knowledge of the Fletcher / Asheville freight and warehouse market.
Experience building relationships with local shippers and securing hauling opportunities.
Experience with dispatch systems, TMS, or fleet management software preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
Basic understanding of DOT compliance, FUTA tracking, and fleet maintenance scheduling.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $50,000–$60,000
