Superior Skilled Trades is partnering with a client in the Madera/Fresno, California area to hire an experienced Structural Steel Detailer. This is an opportunity to join an established operation where your detailing expertise will play a key role in bringing structural steel projects from construction plans to fabrication. Position Overview

As a Structural Steel Detailer, you will turn architectural and structural plans into precise, fabrication-ready drawings that help bring projects to life. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are accurate, constructible, and aligned with project requirements.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong Tekla Structures skills and a solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural, structural, and related construction drawings.

• Develop detailed shop drawings and submittals for structural and miscellaneous steel using Tekla Structures.

• Calculate dimensions, elevations, layouts, and construction tolerances to ensure drawing accuracy.

• Identify drawing discrepancies and coordinate resolutions with project managers, engineers, and other project stakeholders.

• Collaborate with fabrication and project teams to ensure drawings meet design specifications and shop requirements.

• Monitor detailing schedules, communicate progress, and help keep projects on track.

• Maintain high standards for drawing quality, accuracy, and completeness throughout the detailing process.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.

• At least 5 years of structural steel detailing or related construction experience.

• Proficiency in Tekla Structures required; AutoCAD experience is a plus.

• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection, and construction practices.

• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.

• Understanding of drawing scales, sections, elevations, dimensions, and construction tolerances.

• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to travel to project sites as needed and safely navigate construction environments.
