About the Role

We are seeking Estimators (Levels I, II, and III) to join our team. Estimators are responsible for evaluating project documents, preparing cost estimates, coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors, and supporting bids from the preliminary phase through project award.

This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and the ability to clearly communicate estimate methodology and scope. Estimators work closely with project managers, engineers, and regional leadership to ensure accurate, competitive, and comprehensive bids are developed for construction projects.

Estimator levels (I–III) reflect differences in experience, independence, and project complexity.


Key Responsibilities

Preliminary & Bid Work

  • Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.

  • Prepare preliminary budgets, estimates, and proposals for bidding and negotiated work.

  • Set up estimates using job management software and maintain proper records.

  • Generate and track RFIs to clarify project scope, risks, and conflicts.

  • Solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes, review pricing, and prepare bid packages.

  • Develop comprehensive scope takeoffs, including measurements of areas and volumes.

  • Create and maintain project notebooks, bid review checklists, and estimate letters.

  • Coordinate with drafting/design teams on preliminary drawings.

  • Assist with clarifications, pricing, and scope review in final bid meetings.

Change Orders & Project Support

  • Provide pricing for change order work as requested by Project Managers or Regional Managers.

  • Support operations teams with estimate hand-off meetings and documentation.

  • Prepare subcontractor packages for work outside the self-performed scope.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, accounting, subcontractors, and clients.

  • Present and explain pricing, methodology, and estimate details to management and clients.

  • Maintain a directory of suppliers, subcontractors, and vendor relationships.

Professional Development

  • Stay current with construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Uphold professional conduct and represent the company’s values in all business dealings.


Qualifications by Level

Estimator I (Entry-Level):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in construction management or engineering preferred.

  • 0–2 years of estimating or related construction experience.

  • Strong mathematical, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; intermediate Excel skills required.
    Entry-level with strong math/Excel skills and interest in construction estimating, specifically tanks

Estimator II (Intermediate):

  • 2–5 years of estimating or project coordination related experience in prestressed concrete tanks, heavy civil/industrial projects, or similar

  • Demonstrated ability to manage estimates with limited oversight.

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and sequencing.

  • Proficiency with estimating software, Bluebeam, and MS Excel.
     

Estimator III (Senior-Level):

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in prestressed concrete tanks, heavy civil/industrial projects, or similar.

  • Advanced understanding of project planning, resource allocation, and scope development.

  • Ability to prepare complex, multi-discipline bids including tanks, utilities, and heavy construction projects.

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and estimating software proficiency.


General Requirements (All Levels)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet deadlines.

  • Occasional travel may be required.


Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with regular use of computers and estimating software.

  • Occasional field/site visits and travel for client or project meetings.

  • Extended hours may be required around bid deadlines.
