  • Assist in designing HVAC, hydronic, piping, and mechanical equipment systems for commercial and technically complex buildings.

  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations, including heating and cooling loads, airflow, pipe sizing, and pressure loss calculations.

  • Support HVAC distribution design, piping layouts, and mechanical equipment selection.

  • Utilize CAD and 3D modeling software to develop accurate and coordinated mechanical drawings and models.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and other project stakeholders to ensure coordinated mechanical system designs.

  • Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and participating in site visits.

  • Review mechanical designs to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and project requirements.

  • Participate in internal and external project coordination meetings to communicate progress and resolve design issues.

  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, calculations, and project records.

  • Support project schedules, budgets, and quality standards through effective coordination and communication.

  • Participate in professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required — candidates without a current PE license will not be considered.

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional mechanical engineering experience required.

  • Experience designing HVAC, hydronic, piping, and mechanical equipment systems.

  • Experience preparing mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.

  • Knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations, airflow calculations, pipe sizing, and pressure loss calculations.

  • Proficiency with CAD and mechanical design/modeling software.

  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, building standards, and engineering regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.

  • Ability to manage assigned responsibilities while working under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar mechanical design software.

  • Experience with construction administration, including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and site visits.

  • Experience coordinating mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural, and plumbing disciplines.

  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment selection and HVAC system performance analysis.

  • NCEES record for professional licensure maintenance preferred.
