Proven experience as an estimator, or similar position, within the manufacturing industry, preferably in pressure vessel manufacturing or related sectors
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, quality standards, ASME codes, and safety protocols
Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and project management principles
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists
Competency in fact-based problem solving and analysis
BSc in engineering, construction science, or relevant discipline preferred
Technical requirements:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Skilled use of precision measuring tools
General knowledge of material types/grades and their machinability
Proficient in relevant estimating
Basic computer knowledge including Word, Excel, and ERP software navigation
Financial Management:
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improve profitability
Monitor the production hours executed against the estimated hours assigned for each project, to ensure projects are profitable
Client Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, and vendors, while understanding their needs and expectations
Stay apprised of industry trends and innovations that are applicable to the company to support continuous improvement
Responsibilities:
Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
Preparing material and cost estimates for the product or service in a timely manner
Creating labor estimates for any project
Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria
Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
Managing bids from vendors and contractors
Using bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis such as the labor, material, production times, etc.
Gather and negotiate quotes by subcontractors and vendors
Presenting prepared estimates to management
Compiling and recording actual costs
Collaborate with the General Manager, verify capabilities as required
Reviewing customer purchase orders to verify compliance with the quotation (estimate)
Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times
