StruMIS Systems Programmer/Technician

McGregor, TX - Full Time

We are seeking an experienced StruMIS Systems Programmer/Technician for direct placement role with a company that designs, engineers, fabricates, and helps manage pre-engineered steel building projects.

Pay: $80,000-$90,000 depending on experience.
Location: McGregor, TX

Job Summary:
The StruMIS Systems Technician / Programmer is responsible for maintaining, programming, and optimizing production information within the StruMIS manufacturing management system to support structural steel fabrication operations. This position converts engineering data, drawings, and project requirements into accurate manufacturing information, ensuring production teams have the necessary materials, routings, CNC data, fabrication packages, and documentation required to execute work safely, efficiently, and accurately. This role serves as a critical link between Engineering, Production Planning, Procurement, Quality, Production, and Shipping by ensuring system accuracy, maintaining production visibility, supporting CNC programming requirements, and improving utilization of StruMIS functionality throughout the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities for StruMIS Systems Technician/Programmer:
StruMIS Programming & System Administration
• Maintain, update, and optimize production information within the StruMIS manufacturing system.
• Import, validate, and process engineering models, drawings, and fabrication data.
• Configure assemblies, parts, routings, operations, and production sequences.
• Create, update, and release fabrication work packages for production.
• Maintain accurate production status, routing, and workflow information.
• Review system data for accuracy prior to release to manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot StruMIS errors, data discrepancies, and processing issues.
• Support improvements to StruMIS workflows, reporting, and overall system utilization.
CNC Programming & Manufacturing Support
• Generate, validate, and maintain manufacturing data required for automated fabrication equipment.
• Review CNC output files and machine data for accuracy.
• Troubleshoot programming issues impacting machine operation or production flow.
• Partner with Machine Operators, Maintenance, and Production leadership to resolve manufacturing concerns.
• Optimize programming processes to improve throughput, quality, and material utilization.
Production Planning & Shop Floor Support
• Support production scheduling by ensuring accurate manufacturing information is available.
• Assist with sequencing work through each production workflow
• Monitor production progress and system transactions within StruMIS.
• Identify missing information, routing concerns, and production constraints.
• Support production teams with documentation, drawings, and system-related questions.
Engineering & Drawing Coordination
• Review fabrication drawings, models, and project information for manufacturing readiness.
• Verify drawing revisions and engineering changes are accurately reflected within StruMIS.
• Coordinate updates impacting production schedules and fabrication activities.
• Maintain alignment between engineering models, fabrication drawings, system data, and shop requirements.
• Assist with resolving drawing, BOM, or manufacturing data discrepancies.
Material & Inventory Support
• Support accurate material allocation and tracking through StruMIS.
• Maintain material requirements, nesting information, and production demand data.
• Support heat number tracking, material traceability, and inventory accuracy.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Receiving regarding material availability or discrepancies.

Qualifications StruMIS Systems Technician/Programmer:
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in manufacturing systems, CNC programming, production control, structural steel detailing, or manufacturing support preferred.
• Experience with StruMIS software strongly preferred
• Experience with Tekla Structures integration preferred
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Computer-Aided Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related discipline preferred.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes.
• Understanding of manufacturing workflow and production sequencing.
• Knowledge of bills of material, routings, assemblies, and fabrication documentation.
• Understanding of CNC manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of inventory control and material traceability.
• Ability to translate engineering information into manufacturing requirements.
• Ability to identify system or programming errors before they impact production.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with production and technical teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing system issues.
• Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.
