The company specializes in electric, gas, water, sewer, and fiber infrastructure projects throughout the Baltimore region and is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to strengthen its field safety program and ensure a culture of proactive safety across all job sites.

Position Summary
The Safety Manager will lead and enforce all safety initiatives across construction operations, focusing on underground utility work. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for OSHA compliance, training, audits, and promoting a proactive safety culture in partnership with field leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 30 standards, OSHA 500 (preferred), NFPA 70, Fall Protection, and other federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine and unannounced jobsite inspections and safety audits.
  • Oversee trench safety, excavation safety, confined space practices, and underground utility operations.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and formal safety training sessions.
  • Maintain CPR, OSHA, and certification compliance records.
  • Provide real-time coaching and guidance to field personnel.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and metrics.
  • Coordinate with clients, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support onboarding and safety orientation for new employees.
  • Ensure subcontractor safety compliance.
  • Promote company values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Teamwork.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all job sites.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience, including underground utility experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification (required); OSHA 500 (preferred).
  • CPR Certification (required).
  • Fall Protection and NFPA 70 knowledge/experience (required).
  • Strong knowledge of trenching, excavation, and confined space safety.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (required or strongly preferred).
  • Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and construction best practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout the Baltimore region.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Experience
  • Background in electric, gas, water, sewer, or telecommunications utility construction
  • Experience with directional drilling, hydro excavation, and trenching operations
  • Experience supporting utility prime contractors or large infrastructure projects
