Seeking a Grading/Base Stone Superintendent for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Lebanon, TN.

Salary is between $100,000 - $125,000 per year (based on experience)
Responsibilities:
Conduct pre-job site inspections to identify grading challenges, subgrade conditions, and access limitations; develop mitigation strategies
Review Operations Google Calendar one week in advance and the day before to verify jobsite readiness
Attend weekly scheduling meetings; develop, update, and maintain accurate project schedules
Coordinate workflow with paving, utility, concrete, and other trade activities
Assist with material takeoffs and cost estimates for grading and stone base operations
Communicate next-day crew assignments from Operations Manager to Foremen
Provide daily direction to Foremen and Crew Leaders regarding site prep and grading plans
Monitor grading accuracy, stone thickness, moisture content, and compaction rates
Ensure proper subgrade stabilization, drainage, and grading tolerances are achieved
Coordinate timing of base stone placement with paving, utility work, and inspections
Verify all permits are in place prior to starting work on site
Collaborate with 3rd-party inspectors, surveyors, utility contractors, and engineers
Oversee execution of work by grading and stone crews, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity
Rotate between active crews throughout the day to provide oversight, troubleshoot issues, and ensure standards are met
Ensure crews are capable of executing tasks independently and within AMI standards
Attend jobsite and offsite meetings with clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders
Report to jobsite during inclement weather to assess impact and plan accordingly
Monitor environmental and soil conditions; communicate concerns to Operations Manager
Enter personnel coaching or corrective actions into Asana and ensure follow-up is completed
Complete Direct Support or People Analyzer documentation as required
Hold Foremen and crews accountable for safety practices, quality expectations, and adherence to schedules
Order and schedule materials, equipment, trucking, and traffic control services by 1 PM the day prior
Document and follow up on safety incidents, equipment failures, and site issues
Mentor team members, support training efforts, and contribute to team development
Lead by example, reinforce company policies, and foster a culture of accountability and teamwork
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in grading, earthwork, or base stone installation, with 3+ years of experience working as a Superintendent
Solid understanding of grading plans, soils, compaction standards, and equipment operation
Proven ability to lead and manage field crews on multiple jobsites
Skilled in reading and interpreting civil drawings, site plans, and specifications
Strong organizational and scheduling skills; familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Google Calendar, Asana)
Excellent communication and coordination abilities across trades and with clients
High attention to detail with a focus on quality, safety, and production metrics
Willingness to work in changing weather conditions and adapt to evolving schedules
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
