Mobile Crane Operator
Pay: $32–$38/hour + Up to $10,000 Signing Bonus
Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Schedule: 40–50 hours/week | Overtime and occasional Saturdays required based on operational needs
Travel: Daily travel to jobsites; typically home every night
Position Overview
We are seeking a Mobile Crane Operator to safely operate a mobile hydraulic crane mounted on a specialized chassis to lift and move materials at residential and commercial jobsites.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring experience operating cranes, strong knowledge of construction safety practices, and the ability to work closely with installation crews to safely complete projects.
Responsibilities
- Operate mobile hydraulic crane to lift and move wall panels and other materials according to job requirements.
- Drive crane truck to and from job sites.
- Review jobsite conditions and identify potential safety concerns before setup.
- Communicate with Install Foreman and Truck Drivers regarding jobsite operations.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Set up crane by placing cribbing under outriggers to ensure safe operation.
- Prepare crane setup areas by shoveling dirt and stone as needed.
- Follow crane signals and instructions from installation crews.
- Break down and secure crane equipment at the end of each job.
- Inspect, clean, maintain, and lubricate crane and related equipment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
- NCCCO Crane Certification required.
- CDL-A or CDL-B license required (CDL-A preferred).
- Clean MVR and current driving record.
- Experience operating mobile cranes in a construction environment.
- Ability to understand and follow crane hand signals.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to recognize safety hazards and make sound decisions while operating equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds frequently.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and twist throughout the workday.
Preferred Experience
- Residential or commercial construction experience.
- Concrete construction experience preferred.
- 2+ years of commercial tractor or heavy vehicle driving experience.
- 1+ year of crane operation experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
