Position Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising safe, efficient, and profitable operations on all assigned projects. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of commercial construction workflows, crew management, and project coordination. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of managing multiple projects while driving quality, productivity, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Management

  • Conduct general inspections and monitor crew performance and safety measures.

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for project execution and coordination with the project manager.

  • Supervise, motivate, and develop foremen and crews to ensure efficient performance.

  • Establish work plans, staffing, and scheduling for each phase of a project.

Procurement & Scheduling

  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to ensure timely availability and optimal utilization.

  • Travel between multiple job sites and manage workloads across concurrent projects.

  • Monitor progress to maintain project schedules and quality standards.

Financial Management

  • Implement cost-effective field management practices.

  • Support project profitability through efficient resource allocation and problem resolution.

  • Assist in documentation of project costs, change orders, and budget tracking.

Communication & Documentation

  • Promote and enforce corporate safety programs, document violations, and implement preventative measures.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including safety reports, inspections, and compliance records.

  • Represent the company during inspections and project meetings as needed.

Leadership & Culture

  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance to crews and subcontractors.

  • Mentor and develop foremen and field personnel.

  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial construction, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Ability to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings/weekends; flexible schedule.

  • Reliable transportation to multiple Metro DC project sites.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (experience may substitute for education).

  • Ability to work in heights, confined spaces, dusty areas, and extreme environmental conditions.

  • Strong willingness and ability to learn new tasks.

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
