Senior Controls Specialist

JC - Columbia, SC - Full Time

Seeking a Senior Controls Specialist for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Columbia, SC.

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k! 

Salary: $90K - $125K per year (based on experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, configure, integrate, and commission BAS systems using NIAGARA, JCI Metasys, and Distech Controls.
  • Lead complex automation projects from design through installation, commissioning, and completion.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure systems meet project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced hardware, software, controls, and network issues.
  • Optimize BAS performance to improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and system reliability.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior controls specialists.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support, including client training and post-installation assistance.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, programming, and commissioning reports.
  • Stay current with BAS technologies and identify opportunities to improve system performance and building efficiency.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience with Building Automation Systems.
  • Advanced experience with NIAGARA Framework, JCI Metasys, and Distech Controls.
  • Strong knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP-based control networks.
  • Experience with BAS control hardware, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and related equipment.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building systems integration, including lighting and access control.
  • Proven experience with BAS design, programming, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor junior technical staff.
  • Tridium Niagara, JCI Metasys, or Distech certifications preferred.
  • LEED, Energy Manager, or related certifications are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
