Seeking a Site Safety & Compliance Auditor with field experience in battery energy storage systems for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Wichita Falls, TX.

Pay: $45 - $55 hourly (based on experience)

Responsibilities:

1. Safety Leadership & Field Operations (50%)

  • Champion a safety-first culture by enforcing strict adherence to all safety standards and exercising full Stop-Work Authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed.
  • Oversee Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) safety, including onsite inspections of battery handling, storage, and transportation in compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead risk mitigation efforts by conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSA), developing Job Safety Plans (JSPs), and enforcing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Perform daily field audits and site walk-downs to ensure proper PPE compliance and safe handling of hazardous materials, including acid and lithium-based components.
  • Direct emergency response planning and execution, and conduct comprehensive site safety orientations for contractors, OEMs, and visitors.

2. Auditing, Reporting & Regulatory Compliance (25%)

  • Lead comprehensive site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with standards such as NFPA 855 and NFPA 70.
  • Maintain accurate and organized safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
  • Develop and deliver weekly and monthly safety performance reports for both client and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable state and local regulations, including Texas-specific requirements for battery energy storage systems.

3. Cost Control & Technical Oversight (25%)

  • Drive cost efficiency initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize PPE usage, safety training programs, and site setup without compromising safety standards.
  • Conduct contractor safety performance evaluations to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and minimize risk exposure, including injury-related costs and downtime.
  • Verify that all safety equipment and PPE meet required regulatory and quality standards.
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks prior to commissioning.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on field safety experience, with a strong focus on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
  • OSHA 30 certification required, with demonstrated experience supporting IRA-compliant projects and regulations.
  • Proven experience conducting independent safety audits (e.g., ISO 45001 or similar frameworks).
  • Strong background in identifying and mitigating electrical hazards, particularly within high-voltage environments.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and promote a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety/site management software for reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and oversee safety-related budgets and initiatives.
